Welcome Address

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

Welcome to the website of the Paediatric Colorectal Club, 24th International Meeting. We cordially welcome you to Limassol / Cyprus where this meeting will be held under the auspices of the Medical School of the University of Cyprus.

This specialized International Meeting represents the most important annual event for all colleagues who are interested in colorectal malformations and diseases in childhood. The management of congenital malformations and diseases of the colon and rectum in children is a great challenge for Paediatric Surgeons and requires specialized nurses This International Meeting provides a high standard of continual medical education in paediatric colorectal surgical management including up-to-date clinical and scientific information from clinical studies and research. The involvement of the parents in the therapeutic regime is of utmost importance and we will invite the relevant groups to actively participate to this meeting.

The international scientific committee under the leadership of Professor Prem Puri will with no doubts put together an interesting scientific program. We very much appreciate their work as well as the contributions of all active participants. The session for Clinical Case Discussion was a great success both at the Milano and Prague meetings and we will continue with this tradition. In addition there will be for the first time an Interdisciplinary Round Table discussion on neurological and urological conditions related to colorectal malformations.

This year we are in the fortunate situation to host the Pediatric Colorectal Club International meeting just prior to the 18th European Paediatric Surgeons’ Association Congress. We offer special rates for the participation to both meetings.

The history of Cyprus begins 12000 ago with the main characteristic of being a bridge between three continents (Europe, Asia and Africa). A considerable interaction developed between the neighbouring continental areas, using Cyprus as a conduit through which many peoples, cultures, goods and ideas passed. Cyprus depicts a symbolic intersection point of Eastern and Western European influence.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Cyprus for both meetings and are sure that you will gain new professional knowledge and impressive memories of our island.
